Photography Class

Intro to Photography (Grades 5–12)

I offer 2 semesters of a 16-week course introduces students to the art and science of photography in a fun, hands-on way. Students will learn how to see the world through a photographer’s eye by exploring composition, lighting, perspective, and storytelling through images. We will cover the basics of camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO), as well as how to use both natural and artificial light to create strong photographs.

Alongside technical skills, students will practice creativity through weekly photo challenges and projects. They will also study different photography styles, from portraits and landscapes to documentary and abstract work. By the end of the semester, students will create a small portfolio of their best images to showcase what they’ve learned.

No prior experience is necessary. Students may use a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or a smartphone with a good camera.
